The UAE University has launched the ‘Green Research Projects’ recently. This initiative is in line with national and global efforts addressing climate change and the nation’s commitment to COP28.
As per the organization, this program aims to finance and amplify research endeavors dedicated to sustainability and climate change mitigation. Professor Ahmed Murad, the associate provost for research at UAE University, stressed upon the pivotal role of scientific research in understanding climate change impacts and fostering sustainable solutions. He further highlighted the university’s dedication to fostering positive impacts on society and the environment through scientific inquiry.
The initiative signifies UAE University’s commitment to environmental protection and climate change mitigation. By financing such projects, the university seeks to empower researchers to contribute meaningfully to sustainable development, both locally and internationally. Professor Murad emphasized the importance of raising awareness about sustainability and promoting research that benefits the environment.
Furthermore, the university aims to consolidate its position as a leader in scientific research and innovation, prioritizing sustainable development and supporting national and global initiatives tackling climate change. To kickstart this endeavor, UAE University has allocated funds for 20 research projects which began in January 2024.
These projects is aimed at various disciplines, including renewable energy technologies, natural resource management, and sustainable agriculture. The distribution of funded projects reflects the university’s commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and holistic approaches to sustainability.
As per the organization, ten projects are designated for the College of Engineering, five for the College of Science, two for the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, and one each for the College of Information Technology, College of Business and Economics, and College of Law.
With the ‘Green Research Projects’ initiative, UAE University aims to foster innovation, advance knowledge, and contribute to global efforts combating climate change while promoting sustainable development.
