The Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi (EAD) has joined hands with TotalEnergies Renewables Distributed Generation (DG) Middle East and Africa, to pave the path for distributed solar energy solutions with the employment solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. This is for the agency’s Plant Genetic Resource Centre in Al Ain that has been established recently.
Under the agreement, TotalEnergies will establish a 330 kWp solar carport for the Genetic Laboratory unit in located Al Ain. This boasts 680 photovoltaic panels and will generate close to 500 MWh of clean energy every year. The project will extend to 1,360 square meters of carpark shades. The solar energy project will help Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi curb yearly carbon footprint by 200 tonnes of carbon- which is equal to the energy usage of around 25 homes in a year.
The solar power equipment lease agreement has been signed for a period of twenty years and delves into solar installation, operations, maintenance, and energy production.
