Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) has announced the start of a new solar energy project in Qatar. The project will be done in partnership with Yellow Door Energy. Solar power systems will be installed at three GWC locations, Logistics Village Qatar, Bu Sulba Warehousing Park, and Al Wukair Logistics Park.
The purpose of the project is to use solar energy to run warehouse operations. Solar panels will be placed on the rooftops of these sites to generate power directly from sunlight. This project is among the larger private solar efforts in the Gulf region.
GWC operates different services, such as transportation, logistics, records management, and supply chain consulting. With this solar initiative, the company is taking steps to reduce its energy use from fossil fuel sources.
The plan also supports Qatar’s national energy goals. The Qatar National Vision 2030 aims to reach 4 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy, mostly through solar, by 2030. Qatar’s overall target is to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
GWC’s target includes cutting direct emissions from its vehicle fleet by 3%, reducing indirect emissions from purchased electricity by 6%, and lowering waste by 20% by the year 2030.
One of the project locations, Al Wukair Logistics Park, has already been recognized at a regional logistics award event in 2025. The site was mentioned for its energy efficiency features.
GWC also runs other sustainability programs. In one project, it used a food waste recycling system called Biobin. This processed 40 tons of waste into compost. The compost was donated to local gardens. At another site, Bu Sulba Warehousing Park, GWC recycles 120,000 cubic meters of water each year. The water is reused for plant irrigation. This effort received a water recycling award from Tarsheed.
Yellow Door Energy will lead the solar power design and maintenance. The company has an experience in managing more than 400 megawatts of solar assets across 150 locations in the region.
