Solar manufacturer Sharp Energy Solutions Europe has delivered 900 units of NB-JD550 bifacial solar panels to Egypt.
The initiative is a part of a project launched by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). The project has been introduced with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan. The initiative is to encourage the idea of sustainable agriculture in the middle eastern region.
IFPRI has several projects in the offing in MENA with a view to introduce modern technologies and innovations.
The project, in partnership with Sharp Energy Solutions Europe, aims at augmenting the deployment of solar-powered water pumps to deal with food scarcity challenge and issues related to water shortages. At the same time, such projects also pave the path for employment opportunities.
The project boasts a hybrid system that brings together solar energy systems with conventional diesel or grid-powered pumps. The project will brings down irrigation costs by 50%.
