Raissy Trading & Contracting Co. Ltd. announced that it has been awarded the contract for the MAADEN BARRICK COPPER Co. 110/13.8kV Substation Project in the Madinah region, Saudi Arabia. The contract is valued at SAR 131 million. The project was awarded by the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). The scope of work includes design, material supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the substation. The project duration is 23 months.
Saudi Arabia has been developing several renewable energy projects across different regions. While large projects like the Sudair Solar PV Plant and Dumat Al Jandal Wind Farm are well known, smaller projects are also contributing to the country’s energy sector. The Rafha Solar Project, with an installed capacity of 20 MW, is designed to support energy needs in the Northern Borders region. The Wadi Al-Dawasir Solar Plant, with a 30 MW capacity, provides solar energy to a remote area in the Riyadh province.
In the wind energy sector, the Layla Wind Farm, a 50 MW project, is under development in the Riyadh region. The Al-Jouf Hybrid Plant, which integrates solar and wind power, has a total capacity of 45 MW and supports the energy supply in the region.
Saudi Arabia has also been investing in waste-to-energy projects. The Jeddah Waste-to-Energy Plant, with an installed capacity of 25 MW, converts municipal waste into electricity. The Riyadh Organic Waste Biogas Plant, a 15 MW facility, produces energy from organic waste. The Yanbu Industrial Waste-to-Energy Project, with a capacity of 10 MW, processes industrial waste to generate electricity.
Hydrogen projects are also expanding. The NEOM Green Hydrogen Project is planned to produce hydrogen using renewable energy. Smaller projects, such as the Al Khafji Hydrogen Pilot Plant, are testing hydrogen production methods.
