The recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) inked between Nafath Renewable Energy and Takhzeen, a subsidiary of ONEIC, is for renewable energy storage solutions across Oman, particularly targeting underserved rural areas.  To drive Oman’s energy transition and achieve net-zero objectives, Nafath Renewable Energy, Oman’s sustainable energy sector, and Takhzeen, a provider of cutting-edge sustainable energy solutions, are pooling their expertise.

At the core of this collaboration lies the adoption of Energy Dome’s proprietary technology, notably its CO2 Battery system. This groundbreaking energy storage solution utilizes liquid CO2 under pressure at ambient temperatures to effectively store surplus renewable energy. This addresses the intermittency challenges inherent in solar and wind power generation, ensuring a reliable energy supply round the clock. By harnessing Energy Dome’s innovative technology, renewable energy becomes readily dispatchable, even in remote locales.

This partnership between Nafath and Takhzeen is intricately aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and the broader sustainability agenda of the Sultanate. It represents a concerted endeavor to enrich Oman’s renewable energy landscape and contribute meaningfully to its sustainable development aspirations. Notably, Energy Dome’s technology has garnered substantial support from Oman, including backing from IDO Investments, the venture capital arm of the Oman Investment Authority, and potential collaboration opportunities with the authority itself.

The MOU symbolises a strategic alliance aimed at advancing the deployment of renewable energy and tackling energy challenges head-on in Oman. With a particular focus on leveraging innovative storage solutions, the partnership aims to maximize the utilization of renewable resources and pave the way for a greener, more sustainable energy future for the Sultanate.

This collaboration holds immense promise, not only in terms of expanding access to clean energy in rural areas but also in catalyzing Oman’s transition towards a low-carbon economy. It underscores the power of partnerships and innovative technologies in driving positive change and forging a path towards a more sustainable future.
