Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has invited requests for proposal (RFPs) to interested bidders for project management and supervisory consultancy services for Manah I and Manah II solar PV projects.
OPWP is a member of the Nama Group which is responsible for procuring new capacity for power and water in the Sultanate of Oman.
The projects located in the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah, spread on a 15 million sq m area, will produce 1,000 MW solar power. This will make them the largest solar panel projects in Oman installed with over two million solar panels.
As per the RFP, the winning bidder will also provide PMC and supervisory consultancy services during the construction, commissioning, and testing phase of the project.
It is reported to start its commercial operations by mid-2025,and work on the stations is slated to commence in Q3 this year.
Earlier this year, it was announced in a statement issued by the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) that Oman Power and Water Procurement Company has been granted approval to assign the Manah 1 and 2 solar energy projects to international investors for an estimated investment of RO 300mn.
The projects are reported to contribute in diversifying Oman’s energy sources, thus helping to achieve the target of generating 30 per cent of electricity through renewables by 2030. This will eventually assist in the implementation of its national strategy to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
