Oman and Germany are looking to explore constructive cooperation in renewable projects in Oman. This was discussed during Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi visit to Germany to attend 9th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2023.
The minister met Annalena Baerbock, Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany,and discussed the present relations of friendship and future constructive cooperation between the Sultanate and the Federal Republic.
The meeting focused on the major projects that the two nations can develop together specifically in the fields of renewable energy, green hydrogen, and its promising derivatives and technologies. There were discussions on ways to make the projects mutually beneficial and to improve the strategic partnership.
The two sides dwelled on the mutual interests and discussed ways to continue their support for these areas and the importance of encouraging and developing trade, economic, and investment partnerships.
The minister from Oman highlighted Oman’s plans to make the transition from an economy dependent on oil and gas to a prosperous economy based on clean and renewable energy. He also revealed his country’s policies to combat climate change and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
The other delegates who attended the meeting include- Maitha bint Saif Al Mahrouqi, Oman’s Ambassador to Germany; Ambassador Khalid Al Muslahi, Head of the Minister’s Office and a number of officials from both sides.
Earlier, last year, in November 2022, a high-level 29 member delegation from the German state of Bavaria had visited the Sultanate of Oman to explore the potential for co-operation in the emerging green hydrogen economy.
