Discussions focused on trade, investment, and sectoral cooperation. Renewable energy was a major topic, with both sides emphasizing green hydrogen and green ammonia. Oman’s Vision 2040 includes plans to expand renewable energy. India has also been developing renewable projects under national programs.
Bilateral trade between the two countries reached RO 2.05 billion in 2023. Indian investments in Oman totaled over $750 million, while Omani investments in India stood at around $600 million between 2000 and 2024. A joint investment fund will be created for sustainable infrastructure, including renewable energy and transport.
Oman has been developing large-scale renewable projects. The Oman Hydrogen Centre is researching green hydrogen production. The country is also planning a 25-gigawatt (GW) wind and solar-based hydrogen project in Duqm. Another project, the 500 MW Manah 1 and 2 Solar Plants, is under construction. Oman has also signed agreements for ammonia exports powered by renewable energy.
India has expanded its renewable capacity through solar, wind, and hydrogen projects. The country operates the 2,245 MW Bhadla Solar Park and is developing the 30 GW renewable energy zone in Ladakh. India has also launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission to boost hydrogen production.
Both countries discussed enhancing cooperation in agriculture, healthcare, special economic zones, and transport. They also explored trade facilitation and banking cooperation. Climate initiatives, circular economy investments, and green projects were included in discussions.
Oman and India will continue working on joint renewable energy projects. Future cooperation will include investment in green hydrogen, ammonia, and large-scale solar and wind energy.
