TrinaTracker, a subsidiary of Trinasolar Co. Ltd, has announced the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia. The facility, named Trina Tracker for Renewable Energy, is expected to begin operations in the first quarter of 2025.
The factory is part of a land-lease agreement with the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON). It will be located in the 3rd Industrial City in Jeddah. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 3 gigawatts (GW). It will specialize in the manufacturing of TrinaTracker’s Vanguard series of solar trackers and smart control systems. This will be TrinaTracker’s fourth manufacturing plant, after its existing facilities in China, Spain, and Brazil.
Saudi Arabia’s solar market is projected to grow in the coming years. The new facility is expected to contribute to the expansion of local solar manufacturing. It will also provide solar tracking technology suited for the region’s weather conditions, including sand, strong winds, and high temperatures.
As part of its production process, the factory is planned to operate with zero pollutant emissions. The factory will also include a local service team for training, technical support, and after-sales services.
In addition to this manufacturing facility, Saudi Arabia continues to develop renewable energy projects. The Kingdom has been increasing investments in large-scale solar farms, including the Sudair Solar PV Plant, one of the largest in the region. The Sakaka Solar Plant is also fully operational, supplying power to the national grid.
Saudi Arabia is expanding its wind energy projects as well. The Dumat Al-Jandal Wind Farm, with a capacity of 400 MW, is currently the largest operational wind project in the country. More wind projects are being planned, including the Yanbu and Al Ghat wind farms.
