Mondelez Egypt has announced that its chocolate and biscuit factories in Tenth of Ramadan city will now use 100% renewable energy. The company is switching from traditional electricity to green energy sources like wind and solar power. This change is part of Mondelez Egypt’s goal to become an environmentally friendly business with zero emissions. The company is working with the New and Renewable Energy Authority to make this transition possible.
This move is in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, which focuses on sustainable development and environmental protection. By using renewable energy, Mondelez Egypt is helping the country reduce carbon emissions and promote a green economy. The company is also cooperating with the Egyptian government to use renewable energy from five power plants. These include wind farms at Gebel El Zeit and Zafarana, as well as solar plants at Zafarana and Kom Ombo, and a wind farm in Hurghada.
Mohamed Elmorsi, Chairman and Managing Director of Mondelez Egypt, said this collaboration is an important step toward a sustainable future. He highlighted that the company is committed to developing solutions that protect the environment and help achieve sustainable development goals.
The switch to renewable energy is expected to lower the company’s environmental impact and support Egypt’s climate strategy for 2050. Sustainability is a part of Mondelez Egypt’s overall strategy. The company has worked on many local projects aimed at environmental protection. These projects support Egypt’s Vision 2030 and help the country move towards zero carbon emissions and sustainable development.
