Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has secured multiple new contracts for projects in India and the Middle East. These contracts involve developing advanced power management systems and building high-voltage substations to enhance energy distribution and support renewable energy integration in these regions.
In India, L&T will implement an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) in West Bengal. The company stated that this technology integrates an Outage Management System with a Distribution Management System. It enables real-time monitoring and control of medium and low-voltage networks. The system is designed to improve network reliability by isolating faults quickly and enabling faster restoration of power.
In Saudi Arabia, L&T secured a project to construct a 380kV substation. This substation will support the evacuation of electricity generated by solar power facilities, contributing to the country’s renewable energy plans. In Dubai, the company won orders for the establishment of several Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations. This includes a 400/132kV substation, which will play a role in strengthening Dubai’s power transmission network. The new substations will support the Emirate’s goal of maintaining its status as a destination for business, tourism, and residential living.
L&T has been involved in renewable energy and power transmission projects across the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia, L&T has contributed to solar projects and high-voltage substations that integrate renewable energy into the grid. One of its major projects in the UAE includes a 132kV substation connected to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The solar park has an installed capacity of 1GW, making it one of the largest solar parks globally.
The company categorizes its project orders based on value. According to L&T, projects valued between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore are termed “significant,” while larger orders are categorized based on higher thresholds.
