Kuwait is accelerating its national plans to produce no less than 15 percent of the electrical grid consumption from renewable energy sources by 2023. This was disclosed by Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Mutlaq Burguba in a statement, where he also stressed the importance of accelerating the national plans.
The release further revealed that Burguba met the renewable energy specialists and discussed relevant topics, and present and future governmental projects. It also discussed producing 10 percent of the Ministry’s building’s consumption of electric energy to be from renewable energy, further adding that the Ministry would establish an organizational unit to handle the tasks and projects related to renewable energy.
The officials present at the meeting were Acting Undersecretary Maha Al-Asousi, Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services and Main Concerns Sector Ahmed Al-Rashidi, Assistant Undersecretary for Electric Power Stations and Water Distillation Sector Haitham Al-Ali, and Assistant Undersecretary for Distribution Networks Engineer Saad Al-Rashidi.
