KEC International Ltd., an infrastructure company under the RPG Group, has announced new orders worth ₹1,097 crore in its Transmission and Distribution (T&D) business. The company will handle the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 400kV overhead transmission lines in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The project in the UAE will involve building a 400kV transmission line on a lump-sum turnkey basis. The order marks the company’s continuing focus on strengthening its international projects, particularly in the Middle East.
KEC International also shared that 72% of its orders this financial year have come from its T&D segment, showing growth compared to the previous year. The total value of orders received by the company so far this year has reached ₹19,500 crore, a 70% increase compared to the same period last year.
In addition to this project, KEC International has been active in other regions, including the Americas and India. The company continues to build its T&D portfolio globally, taking on projects to support the expansion of electricity networks.
The UAE, as part of its energy strategy, has been working on renewable and transmission projects to ensure energy security and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The country’s Vision 2030 includes initiatives to integrate more renewable energy into its grid. Other renewable energy projects in the UAE include the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, one of the world’s largest solar energy projects, and the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant.
Similar developments are occurring in India, where the government’s focus on renewable energy has led to projects such as the Green Energy Corridor and plans to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
