Saudi Arabia seems to be taking rapid strides to enhance the future of the electric car industry toward achieving its national strategy in Vision 2030 by reducing carbon emissions and generating 50 percent of its electrical energy from renewable sources. The Kingdom recently launched the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company (EVIQ), the first Saudi brand of electric cars (Ceer). It opened Lucid, the first factory that specializes in the manufacturing of electric vehicles in the Saudi market.
The year-old Riyadh startup Ceer Motors, a joint venture between the Saudi Public Investment Fund and the Taiwanese multinational Foxconn, aims for 2025 to debut the first Saudi-branded electric vehicles manufactured in the Kingdom.
