VNT (Vrinda Nano Technologies), a Gurugram, India-based leading global supplier of high-efficiency power systems and various green power solutions, has announced the signing of a significant contract with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for the supply of Wireless String Monitoring Boxes for the world’s largest utility-scale hydrogen plant powered entirely by renewable energy. The mega plant is located at Oxagon, in Saudi Arabia’s region of NEOM. The NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) aims to produce carbon-free hydrogen using solely renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power to produce up to 600 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen per day by the end of 2026. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision for a clean and sustainable energy future.
Larsen & Toubro was awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to construct a 2.2 GWac PV solar plant, a 1.65 GW wind generation balance plant, and a 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System under the Power Elements package. It will also construct 3 Nos of 380 kV switching stations and 306 KM of 380 kV overhead lines required for the Kingdom’s grid network.
On behalf of Vrinda Nano Technologies, Dr. Vikas Almadi – Managing Director, expressed his delight in signing this project, “It is an honour and a proud moment for us to participate in the world’s biggest green Hydrogen Mission with state-of-the-art technology fully developed and manufactured in India. The SMBs provided to NEOM are all-weather products and can work seamlessly during sand storms. Its inbuilt redundant wireless networking capabilities will enable the developers to monitor the power plant effortlessly to the string level.”
Commenting on the development, A. Ravindran, SVP and Head Renewables, Larsen & Toubro, said, “We always select the best products and partners for our contracts, and VNT is a remarkably innovative company and is a customer-centric organization with great experience to work in tough geographies. We wish VNT all the best for the NEOM project, too.”
Neom Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) is an equal joint venture between ACWA Power, NEOM, and Air Products.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious plan to lead the global transition to clean and sustainable energy aligns perfectly with NEOM’s role as the flagship project in this commitment.
