The Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) has signed a financing agreement worth €15 million with the Turkish company Sampa. This agreement supports the development and construction of a 21 MW solar power plant in Türkiye.
The 21 MW solar power plant will help reduce energy costs and lower carbon dioxide emissions. The construction of the solar plant is part of ICD’s broader goal to support the renewable energy sector and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In recent years, Türkiye has completed several significant solar projects. Notable among them is the 1.3 GW solar power plant in the Karapınar region, which became operational in 2021. Additionally, the 30 MW solar facility in Antalya was completed in 2022, contributing to the country’s growing solar capacity.
Furthermore, Türkiye is also developing various solar projects, including the 1 GW solar power plant in the Çanakkale region. This project is set to be one of the largest solar installations in the country upon completion. Another ongoing project is the 100 MW solar facility in İzmir, which aims to provide clean energy to the local grid.
This agreement represents a partnership between ICD and Sampa. The signing ceremony took place in the context of ongoing efforts by both organizations to enhance energy infrastructure and promote sustainable practices in Türkiye. The ICD continues to work with various private sector players to encourage investments in renewable energy projects, which are practiced for achieving broader energy goals in the region.
