China-based Hithium Energy Storage Technology Co and Saudi-based MANAT announced a new joint venture, Hithium MANAT, establishing a BESS manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia. The plant will manufacture a BESS. Production capacity is expected to reach 5GWh (Gigawatt Hour) annually. The announcement was made at the Solar & Storage Live KSA event. Hithium launched its designed energy storage solutions specifically for desert environments.
Global expertise in energy storage of Hithium coupled with Local insight into Saudi market by MANAT are offered in the new partnership. Hithium stated in its press release,” it will be significantly equipped to meet local energy storage needs through the partnership”.
MANAT, founded by Nabilah AlTunisi, has played a key role in Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure development. It has been involved in projects such as large-scale renewable energy installations and power grid expansion projects in the Kingdom, supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals.
Hithium is a company with headquarters located in Xiamen, China with its presence known in Shenzhen, Chongqing, Munich, Dubai, New York, and California. So far, the company has delivered 40 GWh of BESS projects worldwide. Some of the projects developed by Hithium are, the 200 MWh BESS installation in Europe and a 100 MWh BESS facility in the United States. Both were planned in order to stabilize the grid as well as support renewable energy integration.
