Hassan Allam Utilities and Infinity, in partnership with Misr Petroleum and Gastec, have signed a Shareholders Agreement to install and operate electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Egypt. The agreement was signed in the presence of H.E. Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. The initiative will use the existing fuel station networks of Misr Petroleum and Gastec to set up charging points in high-traffic areas.
The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has been supporting cleaner energy alternatives, including EV infrastructure and natural gas mobility solutions. The agreement was signed during the EGYPES conference by officials from Hassan Allam Utilities, Infinity EV, Misr Petroleum, and Gastec.
Egypt has been expanding its renewable energy projects and electric mobility efforts. While large renewable energy projects like the Benban Solar Park and Gulf of Suez Wind Farms receive attention, smaller initiatives are also contributing to the energy sector. The Farafra Solar Plant, with an installed capacity of 5 MW, provides electricity to remote areas in the New Valley Governorate. The Toshka Solar Farm, generating 7 MW, supports agricultural projects in southern Egypt. The Port Said Rooftop Solar Project has an installed capacity of 3 MW and supplies power to industrial facilities.
In the wind energy sector, the Ras Ghareb Small Wind Project, with a capacity of 10 MW, operates alongside larger wind farms. The Zafarana Hybrid Wind-Solar Project, a 12 MW facility, integrates both renewable sources.
Egypt is also expanding its EV initiatives. The East Cairo Electric Bus Terminal, currently under development, will support the operation of electric public transport. The Alexandria EV Charging Hub, with a capacity of 50 chargers, is one of the first dedicated EV stations in the country. The Suez Canal Green Transport Project is introducing electric ferries and cargo vehicles for port operations.
