Cheiron Energy announced to expand its operations in Egypt by acquiring new concession areas. The company’s CEO, Alan Linn, discussed these plans during a meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla.
During the meeting, Linn emphasized the company’s interest in increasing investments in exploration activities. Cheiron also plans to introduce a hydraulic drilling rig to support shale gas production. This drilling technology aims to reduce costs, lower energy consumption, and enhance environmental protection.
Egypt has also been advancing renewable energy projects alongside its oil and gas activities. One of the country’s major solar projects is the Benban Solar Park in Aswan, which has an installed capacity of 1.8 gigawatts (GW). The solar park consists of multiple solar plants and is one of the largest in the region, contributing to Egypt’s shift toward renewable energy.
In the wind sector, Egypt recently inaugurated the Gulf of Suez Wind Farm with a capacity of 262.5 megawatts (MW). Located near Ras Ghareb, this project adds to the country’s renewable energy capacity and is part of its strategy to diversify energy resources.
These renewable energy projects are part of Egypt’s long-term plan to meet rising domestic energy demand while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. By integrating conventional exploration efforts with renewable energy development, Egypt aims to achieve a more sustainable energy future. Cheiron Energy’s plans to expand its activities, coupled with the country’s ongoing renewable energy initiatives, aids Egypt’s broader focus on energy security and sustainability.
