Italian consulting and engineering company CESI Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Electricity Project Development Company (PDC), a subsidiary of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). The signing took place in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, during Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s visit to the Kingdom. The event was part of a business roundtable hosted by Italy’s Deputy Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Valentino Valentini.
The MoU was signed by Pierluigi Vicini, General Manager of CESI FZE, the company’s subsidiary in Dubai, and Abdulaziz Al-Muhaiza, Executive Vice President and CFO of SEC. CESI FZE has been operating in the Middle East since 2012 and provides engineering and consultancy services tailored to the energy needs of the region. The agreement highlights plans to enhance energy project efficiency, adopt advanced technologies, and incorporate sustainable practices.
The Saudi Electricity Project Development Company, established in 2015, plays a major role in developing and managing energy projects in Saudi Arabia. This collaboration with CESI focuses on strengthening energy infrastructure in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. Vision 2030 aims to modernize the Kingdom’s economy and expand its renewable energy capacity.
In addition to this MoU, Saudi Arabia has been advancing its renewable energy initiatives through projects such as the 600 MW Shuaibah Solar PV IPP, located in the western part of the Kingdom. Another project is the Jeddah Solar PV IPP, with an installed capacity of 300 MW, designed to provide clean energy to the region. Furthermore, the Qurayyat Solar PV IPP, a smaller but strategic project with a capacity of 200 MW, also contributes to Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy targets.
This partnership between CESI and PDC reflects the ongoing cooperation between Italy and Saudi Arabia in the energy sector.
