Ahead of COP28, which will take place at Expo City Dubai in November, the UAE cabinet meeting has approved 78 environmental projects and initiatives implemented by the Emirates. The projects include national strategies to reduce carbon and regulate the use of solar energy products, sustainable tourism and other projects supporting sustainable development. Oman will be constructing a mega hub in Oman to produce low-carbon products. To implement this, Brazil-based iron ore producer, Vale S.A.firm has signed a land reservation agreement with the Port of Duqm Company SAOC and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Marafiq, a utility firm. Under the agreement, an integrated industrial complex (Mega Hub) will be built in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) to produce low-carbon products for the steel-making industry. Oman’s Nama Power and Water Procurement Company have now inked a deal worth 800 million USD with investment companies for two independent power projects (IPPs). It will be utilized for building renewable sources to produce clean electricity in Manah town in the Dakhliyah region. As per the deal, the project will use solar power in the two IPPs viz. The world’s largest green hydrogen production facility with a total investment value of USD 8.4 billion has now achieved financial close. This was announced by NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) in a statement. For this, NEOM signed financial documents with 23 local, regional, and international banks and investment firms. ACWA Power will be developing three large-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar  plants in Saudi. These  power purchase agreements (PPAs) are estimated to be at $3.25 billion with the combined capacity of 4.55 GW. The deal was signed between the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) and ACWA Power’s subsidiary companies Nawwar Renewable Energy Company, Saad Two Renewable Energy Company, and Ishaa Renewable Energy Company. UAE’s flagship clean energy firm Masdar has inked a joint development agreement (JDA) with Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy (MoE) and the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade (MIIT) under which it will additionally develop more than 2-GW of solar and wind projects along with  500 MWh of battery energy storage in the country.
