Saudi-based energy firm Acwa Power has received the commercial operation certificate for Group 3 of Sudair Solar Photovoltaic Project from the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC). Located in Saudi, the Group 3 included additional 25% of the total project capacity. With this, the plant has now attained its full 1500MW capacity, said the firm in its filing to Saudi bourse Tadawul. Kuwait has invited bids for the design and construction of Shagaya 3 solar power plants with a generation capacity of 1,100 MW, as per the local reports. As per the reprots, the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) invited companies and consortia from Kuwait and other countries to participate in the completion for the project. Saudi-based energy firm ACWA Power has plans to build wind power station project in West Sohag to produce 10 gigawatts at a total investment cost of about $10 billion. Egypt has signed a pact with a Chinese company to initiate preliminary studies and measurements to develop a ten-gigawatt solar energy project. Lebanon Parliament has passed the Decentralized Renewable Energy Power Generation law. With this, the private sector renewable energy producers will be allowed to sell electricity and to connect their power generation system to the grid of Electricité du Liban (EDL) at a capacity of up to 10 megawatts (MW).
