Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Essmat, announced that the country has reduced fuel consumption from 182 grams per kilowatt-hour (g/kWh) to 171 g/kWh. This has resulted in monthly savings of 1.2 billion Egyptian pounds. SolarWadi, a renewable energy developer in Oman, has partnered with Nafath Energy, an Omani EPC contractor, to construct a solar power plant at the Arab Open University (AOU) in Muscat. AMEA Power has announced the commissioning of the 500MW Abydos Solar PV Plant in Egypt, Africa. The project is located in the Aswan Governorate and is one of the largest solar power plants in Africa.
