German wooden wind turbine blade manufacturer Voodin Blade Technology has announced the world’s first prototype installation of its 19.3-meter wooden wind turbine blades. The blades are installed on an existing wind turbine in Breuna, Germany. The turbine is made of laminated veneer lumber (LVL) a material that is more sustainable than current materials and enables noticeably better recycling of decommissioned blades, a high level of automation – which is not possible with current materials – and more flexibility. Technip Energies has been awarded a substantial(1) contract by TotalEnergies and OQ for the Marsa LNG bunkering project located in Sohar, Oman. The contract covers the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of a natural gas liquefaction train with an LNG production capacity of 1 Mtpa(2). The plant will use electric-driven motors instead of conventional gas turbines and will be powered by renewable electricity from a planned nearby solar farm which will cover 100% of the annual power consumption of the LNG plant.
