Abu Dhabi University has achieved a significant milestone with the recent granting of a patent in renewable energy by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), as per the statement released by the Abu Dhabi Media Office.
As per the statement, the university’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) played a vital role in supporting the project’s development, leading to recognition by a US federal agency for its innovative contributions.
This patent represents a practical solution to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of renewable energy generation, in line with the global shift towards cleaner energy sources. It also offers students at ADU an exceptional platform to explore various aspects of renewable energy, such as system optimization, embedded systems, and solar tracking algorithms, fostering hands-on experience and skills development in advanced energy technologies.
It is focused on improving the energy output of photovoltaic-wind hybrid energy systems. The patent, titled “Deformable Model for Performance Enhancement of Photovoltaic-Wind Hybrid System,” introduces a pioneering approach to integrating wind and photovoltaic energy sources. By dynamically controlling the tilt of PV modules, the system optimizes energy production, offering a unique solution for enhancing energy harvesting rates.
